"Qing Scorpian" Bamboo Flooring Installation

One of our crews just finished putting in a bamboo floor installation in North Dallas.  The product was a Morning Star Qing Scorpion Stranded Bamboo from Lumber Liquidators.  What a beautiful floor!  It has reddish tints but is still very dark, like a burgundy wine. Check it out at this link: Qing Scorpion.

One reason bamboo flooring is chosen is that bamboo forests growBamboo Forest MUCH more quickly than hardwood trees.  About four to ten times as fast, in most cases.

Folks frequently ask us about bamboo floors, thinking they must be soft and easy to dent.  In fact, stranded bamboo floors are actually very, VERY tough.  You can tell just by picking them up – the boxes are heavy as heck!  The product above is also coated with numerous layers of aluminum oxide, which is very scratch-resistant, we’re told.

Bamboo flooring is installed the same way as solid hardwood or engineered hardwoods – nailed or glued down, depending, of course, on your subfloor.  (Actually, there are some bamboo products that offer a click & lock floating installation, too.  More about that another time.)

It’s important to remember that glue-down solid flooring like this requires a moisture barrier on your concrete subfloor.

The North Dallas installation was a nail-down job.  The floor accents the red brick of the condo exterior in a very nice way, as well as the fireplace in the den/dining room of this two-bedroom place.  It was a pleasure to be a part of this bamboo floor installation.
